Mark Cline
Creator of monsters and dinosaurs, haunted houses and Foamhenge, Mark Cline is more than the "oddball artist" characterized in an article in the Roanoke Times. I suspect it doesn't bother him to be called that, as long as it brings more people to Natural Bridge, Virginia to see his attractions. I first met Mark in 2004, when I learned that he is also a skilled craftsman, storyteller, actor (a ham actor, perhaps, but quite entertaining), street magician, and more. His humor, which pervades all his work, has a charming tongue-in-cheek quality, sometimes in questionable taste, with a little irony thrown in. This is precisely the definition of a tacky treasure. Mark is also responsible for erecting life-size elephants and the famous Carthaginian general, Hannibal in Waynesboro, Virginia.
